Missed Call Notification on Samsung S3
I must confess, this has haunted me for months before I could find the solution. I went from ICS to JB and had the same problem. Off course my phone is on the Stock ROM.
The following steps needs to be taken to clear this out.
1. Reboot the Phone – Duh!, I guess you guys would have done this.
2. If you have voice mail services On, please ensure you have listened to all your Voicemails, and if possible deleted them and then rebooted your phone
If the above 2 steps have not cleared it out, here is what you got to do.
Go to your Settings app and click on Application manager, Scroll to the right , to select “ALL” and then select “Badge Provider”. Click on Clear data
If needed, click on Clear Cache also (In the badge provider) and then reboot the phone. Voila! … The notification should now be gone.
Hope this helps !!!
millionnnnnnnnnnnnnnn thanksssssss
ReplyDeleteGlad I could be of assistance ... :) Merry Christmas
Deleteit was stupid of me to assume I was the only sufferer. After months of annoyance I'm so pleased to have landed up on this page. Thank you very much indeed. I tried the above for the "phone app" but now see that this makes so much more sense...and works a charm.
DeleteYeeehaaaa many thanks I have put up with that for months
DeleteThis actually worked! I too thought I was the only sufferer. Thanks so much!

ReplyDeleteAwesum!! I have been suffering from more than 6 months. I have galaxy S and it had option of LogProvider and not BadgeProvider.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
DigitalHelder, Wency, Anvita ... Glad I could be of assistance...
ReplyDeleteAnvita, thanks for pointing out the "LogProvider" option in Galaxy S ... I will incorporate it in my Blog
i'm new to smart phones.. when i get the clear data part it warns me that "all of this applications data will be deleted permanently. all files, settings accounts databases etc" and i have no idea what the implications of that are.
ReplyDeletei'd be really happy if someone could enlighten me. cheers. :)
Kayotickley, it does exactly what it says, it will clear all the data of the "badge provider".
DeleteBadge provider handles the notification icons that you get on your e-mails, messages, phone calls, etc. Clearing it will just reset all the values to "0". It will not clear out any production data. Like you see a lot of people have done it without any impact.
Off course the warning message is a standard. for example, if you were to do this on your facebook app, it will automatically log you out and clean all the data that it has cached for you, and it will be as if you installed the application new
Hope this helps

Deletenew GS3 user... worked but, recurring. Dont wanna have to do this every misssed call. Am I missing something?
ReplyDeleteLeaky Brain ... It should not happen continuously, should be just once or some thing. Unless that component is not working correctly. You may want to send it back to the Samsung Store for a reflash of OS or some thing :)
DeleteI want to know how I can see ICON glossary on GS3 for boost.
ReplyDeleteHi BunnyLove,

Hi Ginger, Check if you have "Log Provider", that would work exactly the same way

Hi,
DeleteI have the same problem, I also have an LG and don't have badgeprovider OR logprovider. :(
I found it!!! There's an app in Google Play called "clear all SSM and MMS", the icon is a green trash can. It deletes the unread "stuck" messages. :D
